Events

At our Montessori we celebrate variety of events to help children that they may experience both Christian traditions and the rich cultural heritage of our country. These celebrations foster an awareness of cultural diversity and instill the value of living in harmony with people of different beliefs and traditions.
Some of the key events we celebrate include:

      • Independence Day – An occasion celebrated to learn the value of freedom and importacnce of national history, and sacrifices made by national heros.
      • Bridget’s Feast Day & School Day – A special prayer service and celebration to honour and commemorate the individuals who established St. Bridget’s Convent.
      • Ash Wednesday – A Holy Day for Christians to mark the begining of Lent.
        Way of the Cross – Devotion in honour of the Life, Death and Ressurection of Jesus.
      • Sinhala & Tamil New Year – A colourful occasion celebrated to learn different cultures, tradition and value alongside developing a sense of belonging to a wider community as Sri Lankans.
      • Vesak Celebration – To make the children aware of the significance of the main religion of Sri Lanka.
      • Mother Mary’s Birthday – The birthday of the blessed Virgin Mary is a joyous Feast celebrated in honour of The Blessed and Holy Mother of God.
      • Corpus Christi – The children visit Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament; to honor and worship in the Convent Chapel.
      • Sacred Heart Feast – On this day, we remember how much Jesus cares for us and how his heart is full of love, compassion, and kindness. It’s a time to think about how we can show love and kindness to others, just like Jesus did.
      • Maria Montessori’s Birthday Celebration – To honor and respect the foundress of the “Montessori Education” together with the children and teachers.
      • Children’s Day Celebration – An extra special day to clebrate Love and Laughter with our Most Precious little ones.
      • Teacher’s Day Celebration – A day to recognize and appreciate the dedication and hard work of our beloved teachers.
      • Children’s Field Trip – To provide a hands-on, real-world experience that enhances learning by connecting classroom concepts to practical applications.
      • Christmas Carol Service – We at St. Bridget’s Convent welcome the Spirit of Christmas with our traditional Christmas Carol Service to be enjoyed by all our loved ones
      • For Parents – We organize special orientation programmes and awareness sessions on parenting in order to help the children in their development process.
      • For Teachers – Regular refresher programmes are conducted to enhance and update their Montessori teaching skills.

Each of these events provide its children with meaningful experiences that nurture their spiritual, cultural and social development, helping them grow into compassionate and understanding individuals.
